  • Pupils celebrate new shelter

    Vicki Gumbley

    07 May 2008

THANKS to the hard working efforts of fund-raisers, pupils at Tewkesbury Primary School will be able to make the most of a new £6,000 wooden shelter in their play area.
The shelter, which will provide a shady spot for the four to 11-year-old youngsters at the Chance Street school, will mean lessons can be taken outside - if the weather improves on last year.
Headteacher Andrew Holt said a whole host of fund-raising events had been organised by the parent, teacher and friends' association from school discos to fetes and sponsored activities.
"The new shelter has a proper wooden tiled roof and can be used as an outdoor classroom, as well as providing shade in breaktimes. It will provide plenty of seating for pupils, allowing them to enjoy their lessons outdoors," Mr Holt said.
